Heinen’s once again is offering talented Ohio food producers the chance to win plum product placement throughout its grocery store shelves. The regional grocery store chain’s third annual Shark Bank competition is seeking submissions beginning Thursday, June 1, and continuing through Tuesday, Aug. 1. Those interested can enter their product at Heinens.com/SharkBank.
“As a Cleveland company, we want to support regional entrepreneurs and introduce our customers to new products,” said co-owner Jeff Heinen in a press release. “We’re always looking for local creations to add to our shelves and this contest offers a unique approach to discover new opportunities.”
The winner will receive exclusive distribution of their product throughout Heinen’s 19 Greater Cleveland stores, along with product promotion in Heinen’s advertising, social media, and customer communications. The producer also will be able to demo their products at each store for one year.
Edible Cleveland will feature the winner in a future issue. Last year’s winner was Backattack Snacks. The inaugural event’s first winner was Bissell Maple Farm’s Sugar Chalet Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup.
The public will have a chance to taste and cast a vote for their favorite product during the People’s Choice Event at 11am on Sept. 15 at Heinen’s in downtown Cleveland. The product with the most votes nabs the “People’s Choice Winner” and moves onto the finals. The Shark Bank Finals and Judging will occur at 11am on Sept. 22. A panel of judges will crown the winner of those four finalists.
