Isn’t it time you knew more about your local farm stand and what’s in season there? Are you curious about the farmers who show up there week after week? Do stories about food and the people who produce it inspire you?
We created Edible Cleveland to bring attention to the people and stories that make up our local food community. Edible Cleveland serves as resources for finding out what’s in season, who’s producing it, and where you can find it. Every season the quarterly publication will introduce you to the people instrumental in making Cleveland’s food scene so vibrant.
Every issue of Edible Cleveland will express our core values:
Beauty counts. We want to publish a magazine that’s worthy of the paper it’s printed on. Striking photography, the well-turned phrase, and a gorgeous layout combine to create an experience that feels remarkably indulgent. Browsing the pages of Edible Cleveland will be an inspiration, and every issue will be an object of beauty.
Be optimistic. Edible Cleveland is a celebration. As such, we will strive to tell the stories that extend our sense of community, deepen our understanding of practices, satisfy our curiosities about food, and cultivate a vibrant food culture.
Local matters. Although Edible Cleveland is a member of a thriving national movement, the focus of our work is local, and it will stay that way. We will work with local writers and artists to capture the people, places and food that make up our region’s particular culinary culture.
Be of value. Edible Cleveland will be a resource for everyone interested in our food culture and will strive to bridge the gap between those who love food and their food sources.
Although it is called Edible Cleveland, we include Lake, Geauga, Portage, Summit, Medina, and Lorain counties, since they all contribute, with the communities of Cuyahoga County, to our regional food culture. And we’re a member of Edible Communities, a James Beard Award-winning publishing and information services company that creates editorially rich, community-based, local foods publications in more than 50 distinct culinary regions throughout the United States and Canada. Founded in 2002, Edible Communities the world’s largest publisher of information about local foods with a combined print run of more than five million issues per year and an annual readership of more than fifteen million.

Lisa Sands, Publisher
Lisa Sands became the publisher of Edible Cleveland in Spring 2019. Lisa was purchasing local advertising for a well known national grocery store chain when she discovered Edible Cleveland through founder Noelle Celeste. She’s managed Edible Cleveland’s social media for many years and has contributed stories and blogs. Lisa spent most of her career working in public relations, media, and marketing roles and has most recently served clients as an independent strategic communications consultant. She lives with her husband Troy and two rescue dogs in Brecksville, amidst the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, where she appreciates the beauty of nature every day. Lisa likes to say her hobbies are talking about food, making food, and eating food, and therefore finds time to add a dash of yoga and fitness to balance it all out. Lisa’s personal motto is more fun, less fear, and has the goal of enjoying an amazing meal on every continent. She’s never met a dog she didn’t like.
Noelle is a Yale graduate who returned home to Northeast Ohio as a community organizer, development consultant and social entrepreneur. Her diverse breadth of work includes stints as one of City Year’s first Local Directors; Corporate Relations Director at ideastream; Director of Marketing & Community Relations at MOCA; regional marketing manager for the Film Festival; campaign manager for two countywide campaigns; and principal of her own consulting business. Noelle has also helped launch several recent community start-ups, including Bulldogs on the Cuyahoga and Cleveland Colectivo and The Civic Commons. These days, when she’s not busy working on the magazine, Noelle enjoys discovering new local delicacies and supporting local artists and entrepreneurs. She lives in Cleveland Heights with her two kids and very loving husband.
Jon is a native of Northeast Ohio, and has spent his professional career helping organizations, both public and private, enhance their public images and further their strategic goals. He is Vice President of the strategic communications firm R Strategy Group where he specializes in media relations, crisis communications and political campaign consultation. Jon graduated cum laude from Cleveland State University with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. He is an avid, if amateur, home cook, and he is fortunate to have a family with refined palates and significant patience. He lives in Cleveland Heights with his two children and an exceedingly kind wife.
