For lovers of all things local, RIPE! Fest No. 3 will be a must. The event, held Sept. 22–23 at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, promises to be the ultimate farmers market party. RIPE! Fest No. 3 brings together live music, local cuisine, food trucks, freshly picked produce, healthy-living workshops and creative culinary demonstrations by top Cleveland chefs.
For green thumbs, sustainability-minded local merchants will have gear to outfit your green lifestyle. The eco-nerd can even geek out on goods ranging from natural snacks to hair-care products. To keep the kids occupied, there will be fruit and vegetable carving, smoothie and cider making, dance classes and more. For the adults, there will be beer and wine tastings along with food prepared by leaders of Cleveland’s food movement, both chefs and farmers. As if there weren’t enough, local bands will perform, too.
The event kicks off with an Autumn’s Eve Dinner fundraiser Sept. 21, featuring locally sourced cuisine and benefiting the Garden’s Green Corps urban-farming program for teens. New for 2012, the “Not Quite RIPE!” sound-check party offers a sampling of food, beer and bands from 5 to 10pm Sept. 21. Admission is $6 for Garden members and $11 for nonmembers.
RIPE! Fest No. 3 runs from 11am to sundown Sept. 22–23 at the Garden, 11030 East Blvd. in University Circle. Tickets are $8 per member adult, $5 per member child, $13 per nonmember adult and $7 per nonmember child.
