Couples, groups of friends, multiple generations of families – all wearing Santa hats, some in full Santa suits, lots of high striped socks, a Grinch or three. The fourth annual Santa Shuffle flies its sleigh into town again on Saturday, December 13. Scheduled landing site: Tremont.
The completely non-competitive, approximately one-mile run/walk/sled started as the idea of the South Side’s John Owen and Sherman DeLozier. All they needed was a starting point about a mile away from their ending point, and it just so happened that this perfectly worked out with the Tremont Tap House.
“It’s been a lot of fun ever since, and we’re all partners in crime now,” says the Tap House’s Chris Lieb. “We’ve seen it pretty much double in size every year. Last year there were 1,400 people registered.”
Well over a thousand Santas gather from 2–4pm at the prerace bar crawl, eventually end up at the Tap House, and then make their way quickly or slowly to the South Side where they can enjoy the after party or hop around Tremont on Lolly the Trolley. Additional locations participating in the bar crawl are Press Wine Bar, the Flying Monkey, the Treehouse, Barrio, Edison’s Pub, and Prosperity Social Club, all of which will offer discounts to participants that day.
The Tremont Holiday BrewHaHa Popup Shop and Party kicks off the weekend in conjunction with the Art Walk, from 5–11pm on Friday, December 12 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
